Lay Church Planters Research Project
The purpose of this research is to collect concrete examples where Japanese lay people have started churches. Ideally various regions, situations, contexts, and examples from all over Japan are desired. These case studies would be churches relatively new (started within the last 5-10 years).
We hope to illustrate the potential for lay people to plant churches and discover means to encourage and support this kind of church reproduction in Japan. We hope patterns of equipping and supporting lay church planters will arise from these case studies.
Our research purpose is not to be exhaustive but to give a good representative cross section of what God is doing. We desire to share several possibilities not just present one model or method. (See below the research working definitions of leaders and churches).
